Our Story: Why We Started

Nick and Bryan started GPS Renting in 2017 when their real estate investor clients were struggling with finding a property management company that is truly on the same side with the owner and also fully embrace technology. In less than three years, GPS Renting property management company grew to manage over 300 properties in the Seattle area.
 
Nick moved to the US from China in 2007. He graduated with his MBA degree from Duke University. Upon graduation and start working for Microsoft as a Product Planner, he realized that his student loan debt accumulation seemed to be more than the knowledge he learned at school. With a $150K student loan and over 9% interest rate, he lived a frugal life (like what Mr. Money Mustache promotes).
 
To find a way of financial freedom, he saved every penny and invested in real estate. Nick met Bryan in 2010 and started investing in real estate together. They learned a lot from their firsthand experience of managing their own rental properties.
 
They never thought of starting a property management company until one of their investor clients said that he would not invest in Seattle anymore until Nick and Bryan started a property management business in Seattle.
 
The little “threat” from the client opened a new chapter in Nick and Bryan’s life and also gave them a mission. They want to infuse owner and resident relationship with Professional, Honest, and Kind attitude, and also design a system that fully embraces the technology disruption and the 24*7 on-demand economy for their property management services
 
Today, Nick and Bryan and their three daughters live in Bothell, WA and operating a property management company (GPS Renting). Nick also published an Amazon best seller memoir “Two Dads and Three Girls” in 2019 to share their journey and stories.

He graduated from Duke University in 2009 with an MBA degree. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2004.
